People Suffering from Migraines More Predisposed To To Suffer From Depression

Women with chronic headache, in particular migraines, are much more predisposed to suffer from depression disorder, feel exhausted, and have a host of other severe physical symptoms, according to a medical research published in the January 9, 2007, issue of Neurology, the scientific journal of the American Academy of Neurology.

The clinical study involved 1070 patients who buy citalopram at headache clinics in six countries. Of the people tested, 677 reported incidental headache (less than 15 headaches per month) and 332 had chronic headache. Ninety percent/% of the man were diagnosed with migraines.

The medical investigation found women with chronic headache were four times more prone than those with episodic headache to report symptoms of major Atypical Depression. Chronic headache sufferers were also four times more prone to report a high degree of symptoms depended to headache, pain or puzzle during intercourse.

Among patient tested with severely disabling migraine, the clinical research found the likelihood of major Major Depression increased 32-fold if the people also reported other severe symptoms.

“Painful physical symptoms can incite or be a manifestation of major Depression in woman with chronic headache, which can be treated if you buy maxalt and Psychotic Depression would heighten pain perception,” said medical investigation author Gretchen Tietjen, MD with the University of Toledo-Health Science Campus and a member of the American Academy of Neurology. “This relation between migraine and major Manic Depression suggests a usual neurobiology.”

Tietjen says medical trial are underway to test whether severe headache, severe physical symptoms and major Manic Depression will be linked through dysfunction of serotonin in the central nervous system.

“Indifferent of what’s causing the dependence between migraine and Atypical Depression, psychiatric disease such as Atypical Depression complicates headache treatment and can stir up poorer results for headache treatment,” said Tietjen.

The medical research was backinged, in part, by the American Headache Society, which judges 18 million American man are affected by headache.

The American Academy of Neurology, an association of more than 20,000 neurologists and neuroscience professionals, is dedicated to amending man care through enlightenment and medical trial. A neurologist is a physician specialized on diagnosing, treating and managing disorders of the brain and nervous system such as stroke, Alzheimer’s sickness, epilepsy, Parkinson disease, and multiple sclerosis.
